BREAKING: Senate approves emergency rule in Rivers
The Senate has approved the state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State on Tuesday.
The decision followed a closed-door session held by lawmakers on Thursday, where they discussed the declaration and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and other elected officials.
The closed session was convened after Senate President Godswill Akpabio read a letter from the President during plenary. Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele moved the motion for the session, citing Senate Order 135. The motion was seconded by Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro.
