FG approves NYSC mobilisation for full-time HND graduates

The federal government has granted approval for the mobilisation of full-time Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), resolving a long-standing exclusion issue.

Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday by Folasade Boriowo, the ministry’s director of press and public relations.

Alausa stated that after consultations with the NYSC director-general, it was agreed that only graduates who completed a full-time HND programme would be eligible for mobilisation.

Describing the move as a significant step toward fairness and inclusivity in the education system, the minister clarified that part-time HND graduates would not qualify for participation in the scheme.

To facilitate a smooth mobilisation process, Alausa directed the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to expedite the collation of data for eligible graduates.

Additionally, polytechnic rectors have been instructed to upload necessary details onto a newly developed HND admission portal, which will serve as an official record for NYSC mobilisation and help address past admission-related challenges.

He urged all qualified full-time HND graduates to take advantage of this opportunity and complete their mobilisation process without delay.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to equal opportunities, Alausa emphasized that allowing HND graduates to participate in NYSC would enable them to contribute effectively to national development.
