Ondo Deputy Governor Receives JCI Nigeria, Says Govt Passionate about Youth Development
The deputy governor of Ondo state, Olayide Adelami, has said the current administration in the state has initiated several youth-centric programmes, aimed at positioning young people for global opportunities.
Adelami disclosed this in Akure on Wednesday while receiving officials of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) in his office.
The JCI team was in Ondo state in preparatory for the October 2025 national convention of the organization.
The deputy governor thanked the organization for its humanitarian efforts, saying its philosophy aligns with that of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration in many areas of development.
He said the governor is passionate about youth development, as he has initiated many programmes that will ensure the young ones in the state are meaningfully engaged.
According to him, “I want to thank your organization for putting yourselves together as young people to help our society.
“Your goal clearly aligns with the passion of my governor, who has instituted a lot of programmes for the young ones in the state. One of which is the ‘One Youth, One Skill’ scheme that will ensure no youth is left behind”.
Earlier, the national president of the organization, Oluwatoyin Atanda, spoke extensively on the JCI creed and the upcoming national convention.
Atanda revealed that a total of five thousand members are expected at the convention to be held in Akure, the Ondo state capital, in October.
She congratulated the governor and his deputy for the resounding victory recorded in the last governorship election and also acknowledged the state government’s strides in youth development.
The national president used the opportunity to solicit for the support of the Ondo state government for a successful hosting of the convention.
The JCI, which is a non-profit international organization with presence in over one hundred countries, has been in existence in Nigeria for 68 years with over 10,000 members across major cities in the country.
