Gunmen abduct Navy officer, two others in Abuja, demand N100m Ransom

A Nigerian Navy officer attached to the Defence Headquarters, Lieutenant Cynthia Akor, has been abducted alongside two others by gunmen in Abuja.

The incident occurred on Friday night at their residence in the Mpape area of the Federal Capital Territory.

A local resident, who spoke anonymously due to security concerns, confirmed the abduction on Saturday.

According to the source, the kidnappers have contacted the victims’ families and are demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release.

“The kidnappers have already reached out to their families and are demanding N100 million,” the source stated.

Attempts to reach the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, and the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, were unsuccessful, as both had not responded to messages as of the time of this report.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, said she was still verifying the incident and would provide more information later.

“I will confirm and get back to you shortly,” she said.

As of the time of filing this report, no further update had been provided.
