Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has dismissed reports suggesting she apologized to the Senate regarding the issue that led to her suspension.

In a statement issued on Monday, she described the reports as “false and misleading,” reaffirming her position and insisting she had not retracted any of her statements.

“The claims that I have apologized to the Senate or changed my stance are completely untrue. I stand firmly by my words and have not offered any apology to the Senate or anyone concerning this matter,” she declared.

She accused those spreading the misinformation of attempting to mislead the public and distort facts.

Following her suspension, which stemmed from a disagreement with Senate leadership, Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized her commitment to advocating for the rights of her constituents.

She also alleged that certain individuals were working to suppress her voice through fabricated narratives.

“I urge the public to disregard these misleading stories. My commitment remains unwavering in the pursuit of truth, justice, and the interests of those I represent,” she said.

Expressing concerns over what she described as an orchestrated attempt to undermine democracy, she asserted that she would not succumb to pressure or intimidation.

“This is about more than just me; it is about upholding democratic values. I will not be silenced by false reports or coercion,” she stated.

Calls for her recall have emerged following her suspension, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirming receipt of a petition to initiate the process.

Her suspension followed a dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements.

Additionally, she has accused Akpabio of sexual harassment, a case she has taken to both national and international bodies, including the United Nations Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Cautioning the public against misinformation, she advised that any official communication from her would only be shared through her verified platforms.

“I deeply appreciate the support of my people. Rest assured, my fight for justice and fairness will continue,” she affirmed.
