The Niger State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Mubarak, for allegedly stabbing 25-year-old Shamseen Danshehu to death in Minna, the state capital.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening in the Kwangila area when a fight broke out between the two.

During the altercation, Mubarak allegedly stabbed Danshehu in the chest. The victim was rushed to Minna General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.

Residents in the area said they were unaware of what led to the fight but noted that Mubarak was often seen wandering the streets and scavenging through refuse bins.

Confirming the incident on Monday, the Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, stated that the suspect had been arrested and was under investigation.

“It was reported that Mubarak, who is suspected to be mentally unstable and engages in scavenging, had a fight with a passerby, Shamseen Danshehu.

During the altercation, he stabbed the victim in the chest with a pair of scissors,” Abiodun said.

He added that the police are conducting further investigations into the case.
