Kogi Central residents reinforce efforts to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

A large number of Kogi Central residents have reiterated their support for the ongoing recall of suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, asserting that no amount of misinformation will derail the process.

Operating under the Kogi Central Grassroots Movement, the constituents described her tenure in the Senate as a mistake they are determined to rectify.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the group’s Coordinator, AbdulHameed Jimoh, and Secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi, accused Akpoti-Uduaghan’s supporters of spreading misleading narratives about the recall.

The movement stated that even her former loyalists had distanced themselves from her, claiming she prioritized personal ambitions over the progress of Kogi Central.

They also criticized her public allegations against the Senate President, arguing that such claims had brought unnecessary attention to the district.

Furthermore, the group alleged that her recent engagements in Okene were staged to create a false impression of widespread support, asserting that individuals from outside the district were mobilized to boost attendance.

They maintained that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s actions had placed Kogi Central in the spotlight for the wrong reasons, making her recall necessary to restore the district’s reputation.

According to them, no responsible electorate would allow their senatorial representation to be tainted without taking corrective steps.

The group also condemned her decision to escalate her grievances to international organizations such as the United Nations and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, stating that this was an attempt to undermine Nigeria’s image.

Since she has refused to step down, they emphasized, the people are committed to removing her.

They further urged the media to verify the facts rather than accept narratives being circulated in her defense.

Refuting claims that residents were coerced or bribed into supporting the recall, they insisted that Kogi Central voters are politically informed and capable of making independent decisions.
