Wife seeks help nine months after husband’s abduction in Onitsha

Mrs. MaryCynthia Ogechukwu Nnanyelugo has called on security agencies to help find her husband, Hyginus Arinze Nnanyelugo, who has been missing since July 11, 2024, after being abducted by armed men in Onitsha, Anambra State.

She recounted that her husband was kidnapped alongside his Lexus RX 300 Jeep (Gold Colour), with Registration No. FGG 693 HC, by suspected kidnappers or hired assassins.

Since then, neither he nor the vehicle has been found.

In an affidavit filed at the Law Chambers of Sir Ben Chudi Izuegbu Esq., a Notary Public, she described how the abduction took place at about 8:30 p.m. on Onoja Oboli Street, opposite Modebe Secondary School, Odoakpu.

Her husband was on his way home to No. 36 Sanniez Street, Odoakpu, when a tricycle carrying the assailants blocked his path.

They reportedly forced him into the tricycle and drove off, leaving no trace.

She provided additional details about the vehicle, listing its Engine No. as 1MZ*4371507 and Chassis No. as MCU10-0052334, urging security forces to intervene urgently.

The incident was reported to the Fegge Police Division in Onitsha on July 12, 2024, where a police extract was issued.

In her desperate search for answers, she also paid N35,000 for radio announcements on Radio Sapientia on July 23, 2024, appealing for any information on his whereabouts.

Expressing her anguish, Mrs. Nnanyelugo highlighted the emotional and financial strain the disappearance has placed on their family.

She urged security agencies to intensify efforts in finding her husband, emphasizing the distress and hardship his prolonged absence has caused.

Her plea reflects growing concerns over rising insecurity in the region, where families continue to struggle with unresolved kidnappings and disappearances.
