Ibas tasks new SSG with restoring public trust in Rivers

Rivers State Sole Administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas, has urged the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ibibia Worika, to lead efforts in restoring law, order, and public trust.

Speaking at Mr. Worika’s swearing-in ceremony in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Mr. Ibas emphasized the importance of aligning policies and decisions with his administration’s mandate.

He tasked the SSG with stabilizing the state’s political landscape and creating conditions necessary for the restoration of democratic institutions.

“Rivers State needs your intellect, grit, and unwavering dedication. Together, we will write a new chapter of progress for this great state,” Mr. Ibas said.

Stressing the urgency of his role, Mr. Ibas urged Mr. Worika to immediately engage with civil servants, whom he described as critical stakeholders in governance.

He emphasized that the state’s administrative machinery must remain functional during the transition period.

Reflecting on his initial address upon assuming office, Mr. Ibas reaffirmed his commitment to governance based on transparency, accountability, and service. He encouraged the new SSG to meet the demands of his position with dedication and efficiency.

Additionally, the administrator called on permanent secretaries and civil servants to cooperate with the government to achieve collective goals.
