Police foil bandit attack, kill notorious kingpin ‘Dan Mudale’ in Zamfara
Police in Zamfara State successfully repelled a bandit attack on Keta town in Tsafe Local Government Area, killing several attackers, including the notorious kingpin known as ‘Dan Mudale.’
The state police spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Gusau on Thursday.
According to the statement, security forces launched a joint operation after receiving a tip-off around 3:40 p.m. that a large group of armed bandits had invaded Keta town.
A combined team of the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, local hunters, and Community Protection Guards engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle.
During the operation, security operatives neutralized a significant number of bandits, including Dan Mudale, who had been terrorizing Tsafe and surrounding areas.
However, the attack resulted in casualties on the side of security forces, with one Police Mobile Force officer, four Community Protection Guard members, and two hunters losing their lives.
Two other hunters who sustained injuries are receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to restoring peace in Zamfara and urged residents to report any suspicious activities to security agencies for prompt action.
