Nine people lost their lives, and 11 others sustained injuries in a road accident on the Malumfashi–Kafur Road in Katsina State.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Aliyu Ma’aji, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday.

He said a preliminary investigation revealed that the accident involved a bus carrying 20 passengers.

According to Ma’aji, the crash was caused by speeding, which led the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

“The FRSC Katsina State Command reports a tragic road accident in Malumfashi town.

A Hummer bus carrying 20 passengers crashed, resulting in nine fatalities.

Eleven others were rescued and are currently receiving treatment for various injuries,” he stated.

He urged motorists to drive cautiously and avoid speeding, overloading, and reckless driving, especially during the festive season.

He also noted that despite the government’s efforts in improving road infrastructure, accidents continue to claim lives due to unsafe driving practices.
