Kogi LG chairman declares curfew ahead of Natasha’s visit
The Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area in Kogi State, Amoka Monday, has imposed a curfew across the council, citing security concerns and the need to regulate public gatherings.
In a statement released on Monday, the chairman said the measure aligns with directives from the Kogi State Government and the Commissioner of Police to maintain peace and order.
“The curfew takes immediate effect and restricts movement and gatherings in designated areas.
Individuals found loitering or assembling in restricted zones without proper authorization will face arrest and prosecution,” the statement read.
Monday stressed that the safety of residents remains his administration’s top priority, warning against any activities that could disrupt public peace.
“We are committed to ensuring the security and stability of our people.
Any action that threatens the peace of our communities will not be tolerated,” he said.
The chairman described the curfew as a proactive step to prevent potential security breaches, adding that the local government is collaborating with security agencies to monitor the situation closely.
The curfew and the ban on political rallies form part of broader efforts by the Kogi State Government to uphold peace, combat misinformation, and ensure lawful public gatherings.
Residents have been urged to comply with the directive and cooperate with security agencies to safeguard lives and property.
The administration also appealed for calm, assuring the public that normal daily activities can continue within legal boundaries.
