Police prevent kidnapping attempt in Ebonyi

Abakaliki—The Ebonyi State Police Command has successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt at Mile 50 Layout in Abakaliki.

According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, officers also recovered two vehicles, including one belonging to the victim, Nneka Onyibe.

Ukandu stated that on March 30, at about 8:30 p.m., the police received a report of a kidnapping in the area.

“Operatives were immediately deployed to track the suspects.

They pursued an ash-colored Toyota Corolla with registration number SKA 828 AA to Tina Nweze Street,” he said.

Faced with mounting pressure, the kidnappers abandoned the victim along with the Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Sienna owned by Onyibe.

Both vehicles were successfully recovered and are now at the command headquarters for identification.

Commissioner of Police, CP Adaku Uche-Anya, reaffirmed the force’s commitment to ensuring public safety and urged residents to report emergencies by contacting the command’s control room at 07064515001.
