Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan warns of threats, points fingers at Akpabio, Bello, and Ododo
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has urged Nigerians to hold Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo, and former Governor Yahaya Bello responsible if she or her supporters come under attack.
The senator raised the alarm on Tuesday through a post on her official Facebook page, expressing concerns about potential violence.
“My dear people of Kogi Central, I look forward to our peaceful Sallah celebrations today.
However, should we be met with or infiltrated by violence, Nigerians should hold Gov Ododo, Yahaya Bello, and SP Godswill Akpabio wholly responsible,” she stated.
Her warning comes amid heightened tensions following the Kogi State Government’s decision to ban rallies and public gatherings due to security concerns.
The government cited recent incidents in Kasemiya, Katubo, and Umozu Ette in Kogi West, where two lives were lost, as justification for the restrictions.
Commissioner for Information Kingsley Fanwo defended the move, emphasizing the need to prevent any security breaches that could destabilize the state. Similarly, Kogi State Commissioner of Police Miller Dantawaye warned Akpoti-Uduaghan against proceeding with her planned Sallah rally, stressing that it violated the state’s newly imposed restrictions on political gatherings.
Despite these warnings, videos circulating on social media show supporters preparing for the senator’s homecoming rally.
A live feed shared by Kogi Senator Bashir Haroon captured a large crowd, primarily women, singing and drumming in anticipation of her return.
As of the time of this report, the situation remains tense, with concerns over possible confrontations.
