Man remanded in Agodi correctional facility for attempted murder

An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan has ordered the remand of a 23-year-old man, Abiodun Adesegun, at Agodi Correctional Facility over an alleged attempted murder.

Adesegun faces a two-count charge related to the incident.

Presiding Magistrate A.T. Oyediji did not take his plea, citing a lack of jurisdiction.

Instead, she directed that he remain in custody until the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) provides legal advice.

The case was adjourned until April 10 for mention.

According to the prosecuting counsel, ASP Foluke Adedosu, the offence occurred on March 11 at around 9:00 p.m. in the Matala Mosque area of Oke-Adu, Ibadan.

Adesegun, along with others still at large, allegedly attacked Lekan Lukman, striking him on the head with an axe and beating him with a stick.

The alleged crime violates Sections 320 and 324 of the Oyo State Criminal Code Laws of 2000.
