Police intensify security at Sagamu interchange on Lagos-Ibadan expressway
The Ogun State Police Command has heightened security at the Sagamu Interchange along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway following growing concerns about criminal activities in the area.
Command spokesperson CSP Omolola Odutola announced the measures on Wednesday, stating that Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo has led efforts to reinforce safety. Operatives from the Quick Response Squad, OP Mesa, and Mobile Police Squadron 71 have been strategically deployed to key locations, including under the bridge, at roundabouts, and along major routes.
A security assessment conducted by the commissioner revealed illegal trading and the presence of touts.
During the operation, officers discovered a criminal hideout in the surrounding bush and arrested three suspects. Illegal trading activities under the bridge were also disbanded.
The police have urged residents and commuters to stay vigilant and take precautions while traveling.
Ms. Odutola advised early travel planning to reduce risks and assured the public of sustained security operations in collaboration with other agencies and the Ogun State government.
