Group lashes Peter Obi’s for criticizing Tinubu’s administration

The Forum of Economic Rights Activists (FERA) has raised concerns over the remarks made by Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, regarding President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Obi has recently criticized the current government in interviews, claiming that Nigeria’s democracy is deteriorating under Tinubu’s leadership and that his economic policies have failed to address the country’s challenges.

However, in a statement issued on Friday, Moses Okino, president of FERA, disagreed with Obi’s assessment, particularly concerning the country’s economic measures.

Okino argued that Obi’s criticisms overlook the positive effects of key reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies, which he sees as a vital step toward solving long-standing economic issues.

Okino also responded to Obi’s comments on anti-corruption efforts, asserting that the administration has made significant strides in areas that the former governor had critiqued.

The FERA president described Obi’s remarks as “misleading” and “inaccurate,” accusing him of selectively interpreting facts to suit his own narrative.

Okino urged Nigerians to take a more critical approach when considering political opinions and historical records ahead of the 2027 elections.

“It is essential for voters to make informed choices based on a balanced view of both past governance and current political discourse,” the statement stated.

Okino further called on politicians to engage more constructively and transparently with the public as the nation continues to confront its political and economic challenges.
