Security forces dislodge gunmen after six-hour battle in Anambra
A combined team of security operatives in Anambra State successfully dislodged a notorious gunmen’s camp located in Ogbunka, Orumba South Local Government Area, following a six-hour gun battle.
The joint operation involved personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the Army’s 302 Artillery Regiment in Onitsha, the Navy from the Naval Command in Ogbaru, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Anambra State Vigilante Group.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the raid was based on sustained intelligence gathering.
He said the operatives overpowered the criminals despite the use of explosives as defensive shields around their camp.
“The joint security team, in a six-hour gun battle with the armed criminals, neutralized some of the explosives used by the hoodlums.
Due to superior firepower, the camp was taken over,” Ikenga said.
He emphasized that security forces remain committed to flushing out criminal elements and will not allow them space to operate in the state.
Items recovered from the site included cooking pots, food supplies, and disassembled parts of what are believed to be stolen vehicles.
Some suspects reportedly fled the scene with bullet wounds.
Ikenga assured residents that all security agencies in the state remain dedicated to their mandate of protecting lives and property, promising not to take public trust for granted.
