Ondo PDP faces setback as Spokesman resigns

Kennedy Ikantu Peretei, the Ward Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Arogbo Ward 1, Ese-Odo Local Government Area, has officially resigned from the party, citing frustrations with the leadership’s failure to prioritize electoral success.

In a harshly worded resignation letter, Peretei accused the party’s leadership of lacking any real intent to win elections, both now and in the future.

He criticized those at the helm for their self-serving actions, which he believes have hindered the party’s ability to secure victories in recent elections.

“Those in charge of the party have no plans to win any elections, now or in the future,” Peretei stated, reflecting his disillusionment with the current state of affairs.

A seasoned party member, Peretei previously served as the State Financial Secretary from 1999 to 2003 and has held the position of State Publicity Secretary since 2020.

Despite his long-standing dedication, he expressed disappointment over the lack of progress and the inability to win any elections in the last three cycles, which he attributes to the leadership’s grip on the party.

Peretei also urged party members who depend on election-related funds and patronage to find alternative sources of income, warning that their continued involvement with the party may lead to meaningless lives as political opportunists.

His resignation underscores the deepening divisions within the PDP in Ondo State, and it could signal a wider discontent among party ranks, potentially affecting the party’s prospects in upcoming elections.
