Father, two sons killed in Plateau night attack

Tragedy struck Zogu village in Miango District, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, as a man and his two sons were reportedly killed in a night attack.

The spokesperson of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Sam Jugo, confirmed the incident on Saturday in Jos.

He identified the victims as Weyi Gebeh, 56, and his sons Zhu Weyi, 25, and Henry Weyi, 16. According to Jugo, the three were attacked and killed while they slept.

Condemning the incident, Jugo described it as barbaric and deeply troubling.

“This recent event brings to nine the number of people killed in Irigwe land this week alone,” he said.

“The IDA expresses its utmost displeasure over the deteriorating security situation in our land and urges security agencies to take immediate action to stop the violence and bring the perpetrators to justice.”

He further suggested the attacks may be more than just retaliatory, warning of a possibly deeper agenda behind the persistent violence. He called on the Plateau State Government and security forces to intervene urgently and protect residents from further harm.

As of the time of filing this report, spokespersons for Operation Safe Haven and the state police command had not responded to requests for comment.
