Wheelbarrow pusher arrested for allegedly killing colleague
The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 20-year-old wheelbarrow pusher, Alfa Ali, for allegedly stabbing his colleague, Hayyatu Ibrahim, to death during a dispute at Angwan Maina Park in Lafia Local Government Area.
According to the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASC Muhammed Suraju, the altercation stemmed from an argument between the two men over who would transport goods delivered from Jos, Plateau State.
The disagreement, which occurred two days prior, reportedly led Ali to fatally attack Ibrahim using a horn.
“On April 10, 2025, around 2:00 p.m., our patrol team apprehended Alfa Ali after he allegedly stabbed Hayyatu Ibrahim during a dispute.
The victim was taken to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Lafia, where he was pronounced dead,” Suraju stated.
Both the suspect and the deceased, originally from Jigawa State, worked as wheelbarrow pushers in the Lafia area.
Suraju noted that Ali had confessed to the crime and that the NSCDC Commandant, Muhammed Ingawa, has ordered that the suspect be charged to court following the conclusion of the investigation.
The NSCDC spokesperson also urged members of the public to exercise caution in their interactions with friends, colleagues, and neighbors.
