Leaders from the Northern Senatorial District of Ondo State have commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his early strides in governance, particularly in infrastructure development.

The leaders, led by former Senator, Dr. Bode Olajumoke, gave the commendation on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the Governor in his office in Akure.

Olajumoke hailed the Governor’s performance so far, urging him to prioritize equitable distribution of development across the three senatorial districts and intensify efforts in tackling security challenges in the area.

The former Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District of the State encouraged the Governor to be cautious in selecting the remaining members of his cabinet, emphasizing the need for competence and fairness.

Olajumoke advised the government to consider acquiring more sophisticated equipment as well as deploying technology to enhance the performance of the Amotekun Corps, in addition to recruiting more personnel to ensure more boots are on the ground.

He added that if the government proposes a Security Trust Fund, through an Executive Bill, the ultimate outcome will bring about a more effective coordination, synergy and improved funding for internal security in the State.

He appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for the proposed conversion of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo to University of Agriculture, urging him to speed up action on the implementation time table in this regard.

Reacting, Governor Aiyedatiwa appreciated the delegation, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to security, noting that 115 military personnel are being deployed to the Akoko axis to tackle recent challenges.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who emphasized that the protection of lives and property remains a top priority for his administration, assured of even development across all local government areas of the State.

The Governor expressed willingness to consider the proposed security trust fund and announced plans to bolster the Amotekun Corps with more personnel.

Highlighting the importance of traditional institutions, Governor Aiyedatiwa assured that royal fathers would always be carried along in his administration, acknowledging their pivotal role in grassroots mobilization and development.

The Governor also promised that the crisis between Akungba and Idogun would be given the attention it deserves.

Those in attendance included the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami; Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti; Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa; and the Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philips.
