Thousands of supporters of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori converged on the Cenotaph in Asaba, Delta State, on Monday to witness his official defection to the All Progressives Congress.
The venue was filled with national and state political figures, party officials, and enthusiastic loyalists, as Vice President Kashim Shettima attended the ceremony.
The atmosphere was vibrant, with supporters chanting slogans such as “We are all BATified and Sherrified” and “Anywhere Sheriff goes, we follow,” demonstrating their readiness to move with the governor from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC.
Along the route to the Cenotaph, local traders recorded brisk sales of APC-branded merchandise, including bangles, hats, mufflers, shirts, flags, and stickers, capitalizing on the surge of party loyalists.
