The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Lagos-based socialite Emeka Okonkwo Daniel, popularly known as E-Money, over allegations of Naira abuse.
Sources confirmed that E-Money was taken into custody on Monday night at his residence in the Omole area of Lagos. According to officials familiar with the case, he is accused of spraying U.S. dollars at public events, an act said to contravene the Foreign Exchange Act and constitute defacing of foreign currency.
A source within the EFCC stated, “We arrested E-Money for Naira abuse and for spraying U.S. dollars, which is against existing financial regulations.
He was picked up at his home in Lagos, and investigations are currently ongoing.”
Another insider revealed that the socialite is being transported to Abuja for further questioning.
“He has been arrested and is en route to Abuja to meet with investigators,” the source disclosed.
When reached for comment, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale declined to respond to inquiries regarding the arrest.
