The brother of detained activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has shared an update on the controversial arrest of the social commentator by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Promptnewsonline had reported that VDM was taken into custody after accompanying his mother to a bank to report unauthorized and unexplained debits from her account.
The arrest, which reportedly took place at a GTBank branch, has sparked widespread reactions online.
In a recent Instagram post, VDM’s brother claimed that the activist, along with an associate, had sustained serious injuries during the arrest but were reportedly denied medical care.
He further revealed that all attempts to secure their release have been unsuccessful.
“We’ve gone through the proper channels, but they’ve refused to allow VDM and the other person to receive treatment, despite reports that they were badly injured,” he said in the video update.
He also questioned the motives behind the EFCC’s actions, stating, “I don’t understand what agenda the EFCC has against VDM.
However, GTBank and the EFCC know how this will end.”
At the time of this report, neither GTBank nor the EFCC had issued an official statement in response to the allegations.
