Nigerian rapper and songwriter Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has openly criticized Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), describing it as the “worst bank in Nigeria” amid the ongoing controversy surrounding social media personality VeryDarkMan.
Skales made the statement via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, following reports that VeryDarkMan was arrested at a GTBank branch after an alleged delay, prompting backlash from supporters of the controversial influencer.
In his post, the artist recounted a personal grievance involving his late mother’s salary account at GTBank.
He accused the bank of repeatedly making unauthorized deductions and said he had to personally reimburse her for the losses to discourage her from escalating the issue.
“GTB @gtbank is a horrible bank… the worst bank in Nigeria.
I wish my late mom was alive to tell you what they did to her salary… how her money was lost, and I had to beg her by compensating her because she wouldn’t quit her job until she retired… do not bank with GTBank,” Skales wrote.
The post has since gone viral, prompting many users to share similar negative experiences with the bank in the comments section.
