Veteran Fuji musician, General Kollington Ayinla, has stirred public attention with his recent comments about his long-standing relationship with fellow music icon, Queen Salawa Abeni.

Speaking during an appearance on The Teju Babyface Show, the 71-year-old artist reflected on their shared past and expressed his enduring sense of connection to Salawa, despite her current involvement with another partner.

“She has three children with me; she is more than a concubine.

She is my wife for life,” Kollington said. “That is how God wants it to be.”

He emphasized that their bond, cemented by their children, transcends time and distance, and insisted that she remains his wife regardless of her present relationship status.

“The person she is currently with is only loaning her,” he added.

Kollington also addressed the impact of fame on romantic relationships, particularly for female celebrities, noting that public attention and admirers often strain such unions.

“Just like male entertainers attract female fans, women in the spotlight face similar challenges.

But a woman’s understanding is limited,” he said.

Despite their separation, he noted that Salawa continues to support him and maintains a presence in his life.

Once considered one of Nigeria’s most prominent musical couples, Kollington Ayinla and Salawa Abeni remain cultural icons, especially within the Yoruba music scene.
