An unidentified woman was discovered dead in a drainage along OGTV Road in Abeokuta, Ogun State, with her private parts reportedly removed.

Sources in the area said the body was found on Tuesday morning by residents, who immediately alerted the police.

Details surrounding how the body was placed at the scene remain unclear, but witnesses noted signs of mutilation.

“A lady was found lifeless in a gutter along OGTV Road.

It appeared she had been used for ritual purposes, as her private parts were missing,” one resident told PUNCH Metro on condition of anonymity.

Police officers reportedly arrived at the scene and transported the body to the State Hospital morgue in Ijaiye. When contacted for comment, Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, said she would provide more information but had not done so as of the time of reporting.

A senior security official familiar with the incident revealed that the deceased was believed to be a commercial sex worker.

According to the official, her colleagues said she had been picked up by an unidentified man at their usual location in Oke-Ilewo the day before.

The woman was later found with machete wounds on her neck and arms, in addition to the mutilation.

This case bears similarities to a previous incident reported in August 2023, when a young nurse in Ibadan, Oyo State, was found dead without her womb after reportedly attending a night outing.
