The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued a two-year-old girl trafficked from Abuja to Aba, Abia State, and allegedly sold for N100,000.

In a statement posted Friday on its official Facebook page, NAPTIP confirmed the child, renamed Chiamaka Favor (alias), was rescued on May 8, 2025. She had been trafficked in February.

The suspect, reportedly linked to three trafficking syndicates, was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abia and handed over to NAPTIP.

“Investigations are ongoing,” the agency stated.

NAPTIP is appealing to the public for assistance in locating the child’s biological parents or relatives to aid in her safe reunification.

This rescue follows an earlier operation in April, where eight trafficked children were recovered through a joint effort between NAPTIP and the Taraba State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development.

The children had been taken from their homes and trafficked to locations including Aba, Onitsha, and parts of Imo State.
