Former senator and media mogul, Ben Murray-Bruce, has expressed confidence that Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, could one day become the Governor of Osun State.
Speaking in a recent episode of his “Common Sense” series, Murray-Bruce pointed to Davido’s deep political roots and growing interest in governance as signs of a potential future in politics.
“Davido is not just an international music icon and one of Nigeria’s biggest cultural exports—he also has a strong political background,” Murray-Bruce said.
The former lawmaker disclosed that Davido once described himself as a “political animal” during a private conversation, noting that the singer has defined ideological beliefs.
Davido’s political lineage is well known. His uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is the current Governor of Osun State, while another uncle, the late Isiaka Adeleke, served as governor during the military era under General Ibrahim Babangida.
“Given his background and interest, it’s not far-fetched to imagine Davido running for governor one day,” Murray-Bruce added. “If Davido runs, I predict he will win.”
