Man arraigned in Ibadan for alleged theft of N2.3m metal container

A 35-year-old man, Usman Abubakar, was arraigned on Wednesday before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly stealing a metal container valued at N2.3 million.

Abubakar, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing charges of conspiracy and theft. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Adeshina Folaranmi, the incident occurred on February 28 in the Egbeda area of Ibadan.

He told the court that Abubakar and others still at large allegedly stole a two-foot metal container belonging to one Kayode Ojokondo.

The offences, Folaranmi said, are in violation of Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate Oluwabusayo Osho granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned until July 7 for hearing.
