Nollywood mourns as popular actress dies 31

The Nigerian film industry is in mourning following the death of Nollywood actress and brand influencer, Monalisa Stephen.

Monalisa passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Lagos.

According to Seun Oloketuyi, CEO of Best of Nollywood (BON), she succumbed to complications related to low blood sugar and internal bleeding.

Oloketuyi shared the sad news in a Facebook post on Wednesday, May 14, stating that Monalisa’s younger sister confirmed her passing.

“Brand influencer Monalisa Ayobami Stephen is dead. She died yesterday in Lagos after losing the fight against low sugar and internal bleeding.

Her immediate younger sister confirmed the death of this hardworking and beautiful soul,” his post read.

Her death marks a significant loss to the Nollywood community and her many fans across the country.
