The boy child matters—but too often, his pain is silent, his struggles ignored, and his identity misunderstood. In our pursuit of equity and justice, we must not leave the boy child behind. Today, on International Day of the Boy Child, we rise to speak for him.
Boys are told to be strong. Not to cry. Not to feel.
But beneath the pressure to perform, many boys battle loneliness, confusion, emotional neglect, and even abuse. These silent struggles, if left unaddressed, birth broken men who don’t know how to love, lead, or heal.
At MercySpeaks Initiatives, we believe in raising whole humans—not just successful ones. We create safe spaces for children, including boys, to express, learn, and grow without the burden of harmful expectations. Through mentoring, community outreach, life skills training, and education-based advocacy, we nurture values and promote healing.
As a parenting coach, youth developer, and advocate for emotional health, I, Mercy Roland, urge us all—parents, educators, governments, and caregivers—to recognize the boy child as more than a future provider or protector. He is a person, worthy of care, affirmation, and emotional freedom today.
Let us build a world where boys are taught that strength includes vulnerability, where they can cry without shame, and rise with confidence—not pride. Let’s invest in the future by supporting the boy child now.
Because when we raise whole boys, we shape a balanced world.
