The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 43-year-old woman identified as Gift, following an incident in which she allegedly bit off part of her lover’s genital during a domestic altercation in the Mile 3 area of Diobu, Port Harcourt.
The incident reportedly took place on Thursday and drew widespread attention in the Bishop Okoye Street community.
According to eyewitness accounts, the conflict began when Gift’s partner, identified only as Sunday, requested sexual relations. Gift is said to have refused, claiming he often used sexual enhancement drugs that prolonged intercourse uncomfortably.
A resident, who spoke anonymously, alleged that Sunday reacted violently to the refusal.
During the altercation, Gift allegedly bit off the tip of his penis.
The man’s screams reportedly alerted neighbours, who intervened and attempted to confront the woman before police officers from the Nkpolu Division arrived to de-escalate the situation and took her into custody.
Sunday was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. The extent of his injuries remains undisclosed.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest and stated that an investigation is currently underway.
