In celebration of Children’s Day, Charakids Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), distributed school materials worth millions of naira to 180 pupils in the Emure-Ile community, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The event, themed “Spreading Smiles, Inspire Life,” was organized in collaboration with the NYSC SDGs Corps Members from the Owo Chapter.

Items distributed included school bags, books, food flasks, assorted drinks, and other educational materials.

According to the foundation, the donations aimed to bring joy to children and alleviate the financial burdens many families face.

Speaking at the event, the foundation’s Chief Operations Officer, Timilehin Origbemisoye, noted that beneficiaries were selected from three schools in the community.

“Many of these children are going through tough times due to their parents’ inability to meet basic needs,” she said. “We want to show them that they are not alone—that people care and believe in their potential.”

Origbemisoye emphasized the importance of encouraging children to stay focused on education and avoid crime, assuring them that their circumstances can improve through perseverance and hard work.

She also called on other NGOs and philanthropists to support underprivileged children, noting that if every organisation supported just ten children monthly, thousands would be lifted out of poverty and school dropout rates would significantly decline.

The Headmaster of The Apostolic Primary School, Mr. Folorunsho Akinwale, praised the foundation, stating that the donations would greatly relieve struggling parents during these challenging economic times.

He urged other well-meaning individuals in the community to follow the foundation’s example.

Two beneficiaries, Master Lukman Yakubu, a Primary Six pupil, and Glory Peter, a JSS1 student, expressed gratitude for the gifts and pledged to make good use of them.

“We pray that Charakids Foundation continues to prosper.

We also encourage others to help children because we are the future,” they said.

The event also featured a motivational session, where a facilitator taught pupils the value of sharing happiness through acts of kindness.
