The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the 2026 governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states will be held on Saturday, July 20, and Saturday, August 8, respectively.
The Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed the dates on Friday during the swearing-in of six newly appointed Resident Electoral Commissioners.
Their appointments were recently confirmed by the National Assembly.
Professor Yakubu also stated that the Commission is in the final stages of preparing for bye-elections to fill vacant seats in the National and State Houses of Assembly.
