A businessman, Abdulrazak Yunusa, appeared before a Sharia court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, on Monday, accusing his former wife, Latifat Sanusi, of threatening to kill him.
Mr. Yunusa, through his legal counsel Faham Ahmad, claimed that Ms. Sanusi had repeatedly issued threats against him.
“She has threatened to stab my client and, on some occasions, even threatened him with a pestle. We are genuinely concerned for his safety,” Mr. Ahmad told the court.
He requested the court to issue a restraining order directing Ms. Sanusi to return to her parents’ home until the case is resolved.
In response, Ms. Sanusi denied the allegations, stating that she had no intention of harming her former husband, who is also the father of her children.
Presiding Judge Muhammad Kabir referred the matter to the police for further investigation and adjourned the case until June 11.
