Thirty-four individuals have been remanded in custody by a Magistrates’ Court in Oshodi for illegally occupying medians along the Ojo-Alaba Road in Lagos.

The Managing Director and CEO of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Muyiwa Gbadegesin, disclosed this on Tuesday.

He said the suspects were arrested during a weekend enforcement operation for various infractions, including trading, living, and defecating on the road medians and setbacks.

“A total of 34 persons — 32 men and two women — were apprehended during Saturday’s enforcement exercise for offences such as residing, trading, and defacing the medians and setbacks along the Ojo-Alaba corridor,” Gbadegesin stated via his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

The suspects were arraigned at the Magistrates’ Court in Bolade, Oshodi, and ordered to remain in custody until July 22, 2025.

The enforcement was carried out by operatives of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), also known as KAI, with support from the OP MESA team based at the NNS Beecroft naval base in Apapa.
