President Bola Tinubu has cancelled his planned nationwide broadcast for Nigeria’s 26th Democracy Day, opting instead to deliver his address from the chambers of the National Assembly.
This change was announced on Wednesday in a statement by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations.
According to him, the adjustment is due to President Tinubu’s scheduled participation in a joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday, June 12.
“Due to President Bola Tinubu’s scheduled attendance at the National Assembly Joint Session, the Presidential National Broadcast on June 12 has been cancelled. President Tinubu will deliver his address from the National Assembly,” Imohiosen stated.
He confirmed that other activities lined up to commemorate Democracy Day will continue as planned.
Earlier, a separate notice to journalists announced the cancellation of the traditional military parade that was expected to take place on Thursday. No official reason was provided for the cancellation of the parade.
