President Bola Tinubu has postponed his planned visit to Kaduna State and will instead travel to Benue State on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, to address the continuing violence that has plagued communities there.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the change in a statement released Monday.
“President Tinubu’s visit aims to assess the persistent crisis that has led to the loss of many lives and widespread destruction,” Onanuga said.
Originally, Tinubu was scheduled to visit Kaduna on Wednesday to commission various state projects.
That visit has now been moved to Thursday, June 19.
In Benue, the President is expected to meet with key stakeholders—including traditional rulers, political and community leaders, religious figures, and youth groups—as part of efforts to find a lasting solution to the unrest.
Ahead of the trip, Tinubu has sent several top officials to the state, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, heads of intelligence agencies, the National Security Adviser, and the chairmen of the Senate and House Defence Committees.
The visit will also include a town hall meeting with representatives from across the state.
President Tinubu has repeatedly condemned the violence in Benue and urged leaders and residents alike to pursue peace and mutual understanding.
He also extended condolences to the families of those who have lost loved ones in the conflict.
