The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom has expressed readiness to host President Bola Tinubu during an upcoming event to formally welcome Governor Umo Eno into the party.
APC chieftain, Ita Enang, disclosed this on Friday in Uyo while addressing journalists on the party’s preparations for the high-profile reception.
According to Enang, the party is also expecting the Vice President, APC National Chairman, and several governors elected under the APC platform to attend the event.
Governor Eno officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC on June 6.
Enang, a former presidential aide on National Assembly and Niger Delta Affairs, said the governor’s move brings Akwa Ibom closer to the federal government, noting that the APC would warmly receive Eno and his supporters.
“As progressives, we will work closely with the governor and his team to ensure a smooth integration into the party,” he said, adding that the state’s programmes would be realigned with the APC’s ideals and manifesto.
He described the governor’s defection as a political merger that promises great benefits for the people of Akwa Ibom.
