The Borno State Police Command has arrested 210 suspects and seized various drugs and weapons during a week-long security operation between June 11 and 18.

Commissioner of Police Naziru AbdulMajid disclosed this on Friday during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Maiduguri.

He explained that the operation included targeted raids, surveillance, and stop-and-search efforts aimed at curbing phone theft, youth gangs, thuggery, and drug-related crimes.

Out of the 210 individuals arrested, 86 have already been convicted, while 124 are still under investigation.

Items recovered from the suspects include:

58 sachets of tramadol

175 exzol tablets

130 D5 tablets

395 wraps and 1kg of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp

28 ermo tablets

10 bottles of drug syrup

19 shisha pots and pipes

Nine knives

Two customised antelope horns

The Commissioner credited the success of the operation to the Rapid Response Squad Social Vices Unit, a joint task force made up of police personnel and other security agencies.

He commended the commitment of officers involved and expressed gratitude to the Borno State Government for strengthening and equipping the RRS.

He also thanked the state’s Attorney-General, Hauwa Abubakar, for facilitating swift prosecutions.

AbdulMajid called on residents to support law enforcement by reporting suspicious activity and providing credible intelligence.

“The Borno Police Command under my leadership will not tolerate criminals or their activities,” he warned, urging wrongdoers to abandon their actions or face the full force of the law.
