Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has issued a public apology to his wife, Natasha, his children, and fans following backlash over a controversial statement he made about men and monogamy.
The singer sparked outrage during a recent podcast appearance where he claimed that, while a man can deeply love one woman, he is not biologically designed to remain sexually faithful to her.
“A man is not built to sexually be with one woman.
A man can love one woman to death, but it’s impossible for a man to sexually be with only one woman. It’s the biology of man,” he had stated.
The remark triggered widespread criticism on social media, with many accusing him of excusing infidelity, while others called it a “painful truth.”
Responding to the outrage, 2Baba shared a video on Tuesday night where he labelled his comment as “unlegendary” and extended a heartfelt apology.
“I know I messed up with what I said, and I know I’m probably going to get cancelled for it.
I apologise to my fans, and most importantly, to my wife—the love of my life, Natasha—and to my kids. I’m deeply sorry. That’s not who I am,” he said.
