2027: APC will face Nigerians, not just ADC – ADC Chieftain

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Peter Okeh, has declared that the 2027 presidential election will not merely be a contest between political parties, but a showdown between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Nigerian people.

Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Dr. Okeh noted that the rising support for the emerging political coalition stems from the widespread hardship and discontent across the country.

“I’m absolutely thrilled about the birth of this coalition. It’s a remarkable moment in our nation’s political history,” he said. “At a time when Nigerians are grappling with poverty, hunger, corruption, insecurity, and state capture under the APC-led government, the coming together of eminent Nigerians to form a united political front is a welcome development.”

According to Okeh, the coalition is capable of unseating the APC in 2027, as public frustration with the current administration continues to deepen.

“The next election will be unlike any before. It will be a contest between the APC and millions of suffering Nigerians at home and abroad.

This time, Nigerians will protect their votes. There will be no room for electoral manipulation or free rides as seen in the past,” he stated.

Dr. Okeh also endorsed former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, as a suitable choice to lead the coalition and possibly fly the ADC’s presidential flag in the upcoming elections.

“I strongly believe Mr. Peter Obi is the right person to lead this coalition.

He has what it takes to win. He commands a strong grassroots following through the Obidient Movement and has gained valuable experience from the 2023 election,” Okeh added.

He further emphasized that Obi has significantly expanded his reach since the last election, noting his extensive nationwide engagement and the increasing public dissatisfaction with the APC government.

“People are now more united in their desire for change. Many Nigerians will also expect the South to be allowed to complete the customary eight-year tenure, in line with the prevailing political norm,” he concluded.
