A man suspected of attempting to snatch a bag was reportedly beaten unconscious by a mob in the Oke Aro area of Akure, Ondo State, on Wednesday morning.
The incident happened around 6:30 a.m. on Oruntan Street, located behind the Mother and Child Hospital. According to witnesses, the suspect tried to snatch a bag from a resident, prompting the victim to cry out for help.
In response, residents in the area rushed to the scene and severely beat the suspect until he passed out. When reporters arrived, the man was still alive but unconscious and lying on the ground.
Locals claimed they had notified security personnel, though it remained uncertain whether the suspect had been taken into police custody at the time of filing this report.
The suspect’s identity has not yet been determined, and attempts to get a reaction from the Ondo State Police Command were unsuccessful.
