A lecturer at Prince Abubakar Audu University (formerly Kogi State University), Anyigba, has reportedly died during an alleged intimate encounter with a 200-level female student, stirring shock and controversy across the institution and beyond.

The lecturer, identified as Dr. Ibikunle, allegedly passed away in a hotel room in Anyigba during a private meeting with the student.

Multiple reports suggest that the incident occurred “in the heat of the moment,” with social media users claiming the lecturer died during sexual activity.

One user on X (formerly Twitter), @OmoobaAramoko, wrote: “Kogi State University is mourning a lecturer who died three days ago.

He died in a hotel room with a 200-level student during active bedroom service. Authorities are trying to determine if she poisoned him, hence her continued detention.”

Although the student’s identity has not been officially disclosed, sources say she was arrested shortly after the incident and is currently in police custody.

Authorities are reportedly investigating all possible angles, including foul play.

“The student was taken in for questioning shortly after the lecturer’s death and remains under interrogation,” a local source told News360 Nigeria. “Investigators are exploring every possibility, including the use of substances.”

As of the time of this report, neither the university administration nor the Kogi State Police Command has issued an official statement regarding the matter.

Photos of the deceased lecturer have since circulated online, drawing mixed reactions from students and members of the public.

While many expressed disbelief and sorrow, others called for a transparent and thorough investigation to determine the true cause of death.
