Muhammad Babangida has officially accepted his role as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), refuting online claims suggesting he declined the appointment.

In a statement made public on Monday, Babangida described the reports of his alleged rejection as unfounded and aimed at misleading Nigerians and discrediting President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

He affirmed his appreciation for the opportunity, saying, “Muhammad Babangida is honored to accept the appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture and thanks President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him.”

Babangida emphasized his dedication to the assignment and revealed that steps were being taken to trace and hold accountable those responsible for spreading what he called deliberate falsehoods.

The statement further warned against misinformation and urged citizens to rely on authentic sources for news concerning national matters.

Babangida, a son of former military ruler General Ibrahim Babangida, is one of several recent appointments made by President Tinubu aimed at revitalizing federal agencies.

He is expected to bring valuable private-sector experience and global insight to his new position, which is crucial to advancing agricultural productivity and rural development across the country.
