The Federal Government has released the results of the 2025 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission into Junior Secondary School 1 across the country’s 80 Federal Unity Colleges.

In addition, the results of the separate entrance examination into the Federal Government Academy, Suleja, have also been released.

Announcing this at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, described the release of the results as “a moment of fulfilment and progress for basic education in Nigeria.”

According to her, a total of 64,578 pupils registered for the examination, conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO) on June 14. Of this number, 61,290 candidates sat for the exam while 3,288 were absent.

Prof. Ahmad revealed that 13 candidates achieved the highest score of 202 out of a possible 210, while 27 candidates recorded the lowest score of 1.

She also raised concerns about examination malpractice, disclosing that 52 candidates were involved in irregularities—50 from Rivers State and two from Lagos.

Regarding the Federal Government Academy Suleja exam, she said 3,421 candidates registered, 3,141 took the test, and 280 were absent. The highest score recorded was 194, while the lowest was 1.

Prof. Ahmad reaffirmed that the admission policy remains unchanged: 60% based on merit, 30% for state representation, and 10% for exigencies.

She instructed the Senior Secondary Education Department to ensure admissions are concluded promptly and in accordance with established guidelines.

“Our Federal Unity Colleges remain a top choice for many Nigerian parents,” she said. “The government remains committed to improving infrastructure, feeding, and the quality of teachers to ensure effective learning in these institutions.”
