Two members of the Edo State House of Assembly, elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defectors are Eugene Inegbeboh, representing Igueben Constituency, and Andrew Uzamere, representing Ovia II Constituency.
Their defection, announced on Friday, reduces the PDP’s representation in the House from 15 to just four, while the APC now controls 20 seats.
The lawmakers were formally received at the APC state secretariat in Benin by the party’s State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe.
He described their move as a reflection of growing political awareness in Edo State and a step aligned with the APC’s principles of inclusivity, accountability, and development.
Tenebe emphasised that the party sees all members as one family, regardless of when they joined. “There is no old or new membership in the APC.
The same honour and expectations extended to long-standing members are also extended to you,” he said.
He further stated that the addition of the two lawmakers would strengthen the party’s reach and reinforce its commitment to grassroots development.
“This is not just about numbers, but about unity, discipline, and a shared belief in a better Edo,” Tenebe said, urging citizens to continue supporting Governor Monday Okpebholo and his people-focused agenda.
