Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), has announced a postponement of its second semester examinations for the 2024/2025 academic session, following a string of recent attacks that led to the deaths of several students.
The decision was contained in an official circular issued by the institution’s Registrar, Olugbenga Arajulu, who expressed deep sorrow over the disturbing events.
He described the incidents as “unfortunate” and extended the university’s heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the broader student and staff community.
Originally scheduled to begin on Monday, July 28, 2025, the examinations will now commence on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
According to the university management, the shift in schedule is intended to allow time for mourning and reflection, and to show solidarity with those affected by the recent tragedies.
The institution also disclosed that it is actively collaborating with security agencies and stakeholders in the host community to strengthen safety measures and prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
“May the souls of the departed students rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
